I saw the "doubled" info and might've even reposted it on here. Interesting that he skedaddled like this - must've figured he would be in Cullowhee another couple of years at least if he didn't get while the getting was good.

I think it's comical he took a pay cut to make mama happy. LOL
I think we ended up with the best coach.

He left for one reason and one reason only....his wife hated the area. As i have said before she was never in Cullowhee but since the move has been in Myrtle every day and they just bought a house and moved thier stuff in which they never did in Cullowhee. They rented a house and he had his stuff there but not hers . Her stuff stayed in Charlotte

They are breaking ground on a new 8000 seat arena in 2026. He already had that at Western though. He will have moved on by then though.

I will say those are some pretty hefty bonus figures. Anydoby recall what kind of bonus targets he had at WCU for winning the regular season title ($250k at CCU) or making the NCAA tourney ($500k at CCU)? I mean guys who coach at relatively high levels have a lot of confidence in themselves, and 1 really good year would mean roughly $1M in pay and bonuses.
The whole thing with his family - I know if my wife said she wanted to be somewhere else that would weigh heavily on me. The old "happy wife - happy life" thing is real :-)

Yep you are right. Those are hefty bonuses but he will not win the regular season or Sun Belt tournament anytime in the near future so he is going to make almost $100k less than what he made at Western. Also, the Sun Belt is ranked below the SoCon in basketball. He was here for 3 years and never even sniffed the championship. I think J Gray is still an untested young coach. Heck he was probably the 4th or 5th best head coach in the SoCon. The guy at Stamford is the best coach in the SoCon. If anyone thinks that J Gray will win the Sun Belt in the next 5 years, I have a great deal on some marsh land in south Florida for you. The incentives he had at Western are on page 3 and 4. www.scribd.com/document/508754996/Justin-Gray-Employment-Agreement-4-13-21

I agree, Coach Craft is our Coach, and he and his family seem to like Cullowhee, and he has assembled a great staff and on paper a very impressive roster, so let's concentrate on our Coach and, hopefully a great season this year in football, men and women's basketball, baseball and all of our minor sports. and bring home some SoCon trophies this year like our women<s soccer team did last year.
GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just wondering, my wife and my friend TerryCat's wife are participating in the August WCU women's football learning class, and they seem excited about it, so, I was wondering if others on this board are going to have their syndicate others participating at this event in August as well.
