It's tough to beat a good team 4 times in a row. I agree with 32... Samford is dangerous! They led the SoCon in team HR's a good portion of the season. I'm at a loss to explain their season. They had some heavy losses to graduation last year, but they had a lot coming back also. The only SoCon series they won this year were against Furman and Wofford (they swept those 2 series.) Davidson took 2 of 3 from them this weekend and UNCG took 2 of 3 from them a couple of weeks ago. Null did not have one of his better starts vs. Sammy in the regular season. 6.2 innings; 7 hits (3 for extra bases); 3 runs; 3 ER's; 5 K's; 5 BB's (ugh!) Blown save by Hatch in the top of the 9th but he picked up the win when we put together 3 singles in the bottom of the 9th.

Heard thru the grapevine that Samford could actually throw little lefty and bring Irby out of pen. That could be good unless they have lead and bring Irby in to close. He has been alot harder to hit as closer. I dont like this matchup and dont have good feeling about it right now but if we can somehow win i think we will be in good shape. Ill take Smith in game 2 vs anyone else's #2.

Did some research. Samford has used different starters on Friday throughout the season. Irby has started some; Milazzo (RHP) has the most starts on Friday. A lefty Eric Wright has started some. But he's not a "little lefty"; he's 6-4.
I'm a bit mystified as to why we didn't use Adam Curtis some during the App. series. He hasn't pitched in over 3 weeks due to not having mid-week games the past 2 weeks. But he didn't even make an appearance on "Senior Day" (Wofford game 3).

For those that can't make it to Greenville. SoCon TV is carrying the all games for no subscription fee. You do have to register, but the payment is $0, so enjoy all the games.
