Greer Middle College senior Kari Bradford, who has won 10 individual track and field state championships, has signed to continue her career at Western Carolina University.
Bradford won the Class AAA high jump title for Greer High as a seventh- and eighth-grader, and beginning in the ninth grade, she has won the high jump and the 100-meter hurdles three times each and the 400 hurdles twice in Class A for GMC.
“We ran a meet in Cullowhee last year, and I really loved the (Western Carolina) campus,” Bradford said in a release provided by GMC. “This year, when I made my visit and got to spend some time with the team, I realized that this is where I was meant to be.”
“They have the same type of family atmosphere that we have here at GMC. (WCU) Coach (Danny) Williamson and (GMC) Coach (David) Smith are a lot alike, and I like that.”
Bradford said she also looked at Coastal Carolina, Limestone and Tennessee.
