The Catamounts travel to Elon one final time to open conference play with a three game series against the Phoenix. Elon comes into this weekend's series with a 13-7 overall record and are 2-1 in conference play, having won their series against Georgia Southern. Beat again. This time by Elon. Game 1 score was 5-1. Expect more tomorrow.

Interesting series. We lost on Friday with our best pitcher on the mound. But E-Loan threw their best also. A young man from Australia by way of a JUCO in Iowa. We had 3 runs cut down at the plate and lost 5-1.
Saturday our starter pitched one inning and faced one batter in the second. Our pitchers walked 12; hit 3 batters and struck out only 4. But, somehow... miraculously... we won. 6-5. Every E-Loan run that scored reached base on a BB. We earned our runs with 4 HR's. Sunday, our starting pitcher threw 2 innings and was able to come back effectively after a 3 hour+ rain delay and finish 6 innings. Jordan Smith left with a 5-2 lead. Our bullpen nearly lost the game, but we simply outscored them 9-7. They had 7 errors and 5 of our runs were unearned. But we forced most of those errors with bunts and stolen base attempts that they bungled and mis-executed on defense.
Our football team beat E-Loan last fall in our last SoCon meeting. Our basketball team eliminated E-Loan from the tournament. Our baseball team won the last weekend series we will have against E-Loan as a member of the Southern Conference.
GOOD ! GOOD ! and GOOD ! Glad we could give them a good send-off.
