If it wasn't so sad, it would be comical watching this team play.

The Cats gave up 9 runs in the top of the 6th inning. The score going into the 7th is 3-16 VMI.
This team may well be headed for that play in game.
If VMI sweeps Western, and The Citadel sweeps Furman, guess what? The Cats play on Tuesday.

It has been a while since I have witnessed a WCU team this bad. The pitching is really bad & the coaching has been questionable to say the least. As a former Catamount, I hate to see this program fall apart as it has this season. A sad day for the program & the tradition that has been built over the yrs.

It's sad, going from back to back regular season championships, to the play in game in one season.

The Cat's pitching staff would have trouble beating a good high school team. None of the pitchers are good enough to be starting pitchers. Tyler Powell looked like a joke on the mound. These guys want to play one more game and head to the house. Again, I would forfeit Tuesday's game to keep from being further humiliated.

Like I said a couple of weeks back, there will not be a three-peat for the regular season and they will get to play only two games in the in the SOCON tournament and be done. Now it may be only one and done. What a bad season! May need to start looking at starting anew from top to bottom. I won't say that the coaches need to be gone but isn't it their responsibility to have the boys in shape and ready to play? Injuries are going to happen but if you are in good shape and have good sound fundamental mechanics, it stands to reason that you could minimize the injuries that do come. And does the Head Coach take responsibility for the pitching since he got rid of the last pitching coach? As for Powell, don't go jumping on that kid. He has done good things for Western. Unfortunately, it is a repeat of when Hatcher was playing, the coach over used him so he had nothing left in the tank at the end of the season. Same goes for Powell. Good ball player with good parents.

When Powell hit the first hitter he faced, it was obvious to me that he was not getting on top of the ball and throwing almost sidearm. He made no adjustments in his delivery when he faced the second hitter. A senior should have adjusted or the coach should have helped him. At that time, the game was on the line. If he was not physically able to do his job, he should have told the coach to prevent a loss for the team. If he is a scholarship or partial scholarship player, he needs to pull up his big boy pants to handle praise or criticism when it comes his way.
