We have the Nebraska and WCU flags flying on the front of our house. If WCU wins again today, I'll fly the Nebraska one at half mast for the rest of the day.
We got this. So proud to be a Catamount right now.

I know we may not see eye to eye on every thing Cullowhee related but are SPOT ON when it comes to this. Baseball IS our flagship sport and the hardware shows it, although T&F can beat their chest as well. If our administration were to EVER get spot on across the board.......wow. Really no excuse for why our football team doesn't have some flags flying in the south end zone adjacent to the RRAC. GO CATS!!! The Cats once again got great pitching from our Starter plus a great Relief Pitching Performance. I still think our Starting Pitchers need to give 7 or 8 innings performance each game. Today's performance met the above criteria. The hitters supported the pitchers with 8 runs which helped take the pressure off of the Relief Pitcher. The only negative was the 2 errors the defense committed. Overall, a well coached game & a big congratulations to Coach Moranda and all the guys for playing two great games against a Power 5 Conference Team. Wins on the road are hard to come by in Baseball & the performances against NC State, Missouri, and 2 games against Nebraska were impressive. I do not know what the Standards of Performance are for Coach Moranda or for the Baseball Program but it is time to fully fund the program based on performance. Basketball & Football are fully funded as far as scholarships are concerned & neither have brought home a Southern Conference Championship. When you go to a Cats' Baseball Game, read the number of Southern Conference Championships on the Left Field Monster and ask yourself why the Administration want reward this successful program? With that said, when you go to a WCU Basketball Game or a WCU Football Game, compare their resumes with the Baseball Program. Oh, I misspoke about the Basketball Program, they have one SoCon Championship.

I personally think Bobby Moranda deserves a raise plus an addition of 2 to 3 more scholarships. No Athletic Team or Coach at WCU deserves more thank you from the Students, Faculty, Administration, Fans and Alumni than the Baseball Program. The time for helping the Baseball Program financially by the Chancellor, BOT, and the AD is long overdue. WCU Baseball is the only Program at WCU that has a long list of victories against teams in the Power Five Conferences. I'm proud of the Baseball History at WCU & the honor I had in playing for the Cats many years ago. GO CATS!!! To make my point about why Catamount Baseball deserves more financial support from the BOT & the Administration, WCU Baseball Teams have won 127 Baseball Games against teams from the Big 5 Power Conferences. This number does not include other Nationally Known teams in other conferences. Wins have come against Auburn, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Ga Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas State, Kentucky, Miami, Mississippi State, Nebraska, UNC, NC State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina, Southern Cal, Stanford, Tennessee, Virginia, Va Tech, Wake Forest, Washington State and West Virginia. Again, Baseball Cats are the only D1 Program at WCU that can compete at the Major College Level. No other sport at WCU can boast about having a performance record like Western Carolina Baseball. Don't you think the WCU Administration should increase the total allowable scholarships to 11.7 for the well deserving Baseball Cats?

The Cats are getting their clock cleaned today. Just shows why the Baseball Program needs more scholarships. Pitching is the name of the game & when you do not get a good performance at the College Level, you have to suffer the consequences. I might remind folks at this point, Western has played more Nationally Ranked teams than any SoCon Team. Be glad for the Cats To get back home after an extended 8 game road trip. I think these games helped Coach Moranda to get a good look at his Starting Pitchers & Relief Pitchers throw against some good competition. Hopefully, this week should help him decide his pitching rotation & his relief pitching prior to the start of the Conference Schedule.
