I know this is probably a shot in the dark - but when we struggle hitting the ball has anyone noticed a common thread (ie... LHP, junk ball, power pitcher, etc.)...

Skip Sounds like you are describing Bryan Sammons. Changing speeds, throwing to spots, 2 types of breaking pitches, staying ahead in the count and having a good fast ball are all good qualities to have at any level in baseball. When the Cats played Coastal Carolina their starting pitcher was consistently throwing his fast ball around 97 to 98 MPH. However, he did not throw a good off speed pitch to compliment his great fast ball. He only lasted 4 innings. Greg Holland's fast ball clocks around 95 to 97 MPH but his out pitch is his breaking ball that dives straight down. Hitting is a game of timing the baseball & pitching is a game of disrupting that timing.

Skip Skip, you are right, the Cats can not hit an off speed curve ball. However, I have not seen the hitters make any adjustments such as getting up in the box to hit the slow curve before it breaks.

My observation from Saturday...
Home plate ump - very tight strike zone...Our pitching fell behind in the count ... Had to groove the ball... And they sat on the fastball... Could not get them to chase anything... I a sure they read the scouting report as there were very few first pitch swings...
Thought we left the starter in too long... They got really lucky with a few seeing eye at bats... A bunt that was just fast enough to slide past the pitcher but too slow for the second baseman to make a play... A high bouncing ball over the third baseman's head... Then they started teeing off on him... No one in the bullpen until it way too late...
Thought we hit pretty good... Their starter has a nice change of speeds between his fastball ball and breaking pitches ...
...and man was it it WINDY!
