Tyler will be starting the season at AAA Fresno. He only batted .250 during Spring Training. However, he is starting the year on the 40-man roster, which is a very good thing. He can be brought up to Houston at any time they see the need, based upon his AAA performance or someone's injury or poor performance with the Astros.
Being on the 40-man roster means he will get paid considerably more than most AAA players. And if he get called up to the majors, he will make $535,000 (annual salary) prorated for the number of days he is on the major league team active roster.
