Western Carolina senior LHP Bryan Sammons was today named a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. It is the first national honor for the southpaw hurler who has a couple of weekly awards from the Southern Conference this spring.
Sammons is the ninth different Catamount since 2002 to earn a national weekly honor – and just the second WCU pitcher, joining Jeremy Null who collected three national weekly awards during his career. He is the first Catamount to receive a weekly award since Kramer Ferrell captured the honor last April.
