What are your thoughts about next season? With the loss of about 10 seniors (most of whom were big contributors) where do you think the 2018 Cats will end up at the end of next season?

What are your thoughts about next season? With the loss of about 10 seniors (most of whom were big contributors) where do you think the 2018 Cats will end up at the end of next season? Many on this board will be surprised when I say I am not optimistic about next year. I know we have recruited well, but the seniors got a LOT of playing time this year, so the younger players are a question mark in my mind. REALLY need to get deeper pitching with a reliable closer. I think we have some transfers coming in, but we'll see....

Pitching, pitching, pitching...
Each year we seem to NOT replace what we lose to graduation/draft. After 2016, we lost Colton Davis. Brought in 4-5 new pitchers, most from JUCO. But only two of them ever saw the mound this season. One threw 12 innings and one threw 17 innings.
This year, we lose Bryan Sammons, BJ Nobles and Korey Anderson. Dillon Bray could give you some good innings at times, also. Where will their replacements come from?
I'm not worried about the loss of position players, even though Matt Smith, Bryson Bowman and Nobu Suzuki were solid rocks. I'm concerned that we will have Nail, Baker and virtually nothing else in the pitching department in 2018.
Hope I'm wrong...

I'm not sure if it's a bad thing that we have so little pitching coming back provided we recruiting well. I'm not sure who will be elevated to a weekend starter position next year. I am a little concerned about the sheer number of seniors lost last year. That's what makes the Cats performance in the SoCon tournament so disappointing. I had high hopes at the beginning of the year, especially after the win at coastal and the series win at Nebraska.
It's frustrating that it's so hard to find information about potential baseball recruits. It seems like the sports information office donates most of their resources to football.

I don't think the lack of "official" information about recruits is because of the Sports Publicity Office. I think Coach Mo just plays it very close to the vest on announcing his recruits. Why announce a recruit and then have something happen and he doesn't show up on campus in August for any number of reasons? Then Coach has to explain what happened. If you don't ever announce, you don't have to explain anything...
