Brett Pope said he will forgo his senior year at Western Carolina to sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
“They gave me the money I was asking for and offered to pay for my last year of school,” said Pope, noting he could finish his college studies at a later date. “It seemed like the best option: to go. This is something I’ve always wanted to do.”
