Hard to figure out why this continues. Seems to go against anything that a D1 caliber athlete should have to experience. From what I have seen no one (no names mentioned 😇)on this team is head or shoulders above another. The numbers show it, the results show it. I still call pride as the reason we don't see many real changes to the lineup. Cutting off your nose to spite your face sound familiar? I hate to keep beating a dead horse but my gosh this is insane Go Cats! GATA Cats

Pardon the anonymous post. I have my reasons, which I hope you all will respect.
It is discouraging. VERY DISCOURAGING.
I can assure you that if some of the guys on the bench were given 80 to 100 ABs, you would have some .300 hitters. Instead, they have a 1/4 of that if they are lucky in 9th inning garbage time or against a pitcher with an ERA of 0.15.
The lineup is set. Period. You may earn a spot start or a DH job for the night if you scratch out a double in a garbage, 9th inning AB. But, other than that, there is no competing for a spot. There was never a competition.
Barring an injury, nothing will really change. Sure, one of the subs might get a start if one of the regulars makes 2 errors in an inning or strikes out 3 times in a game. But, after that, it's right back to the same old thing.
This is the biggest bunch of crap I have ever witnessed in my life and I've seen a lot of baseball. It's sickening to the players and to the fans.

So tell me how running the entire practice prepares the players for the next game. Shouldn’t they be working on plays, pitching, and HITTING instead of wearing them out two days prior to the midweek game? Work on areas of deficiency from the weekend series during practice for goodness sake! Work on player morale. Do some team building. If you aren’t going to work on skills, then do something totally unrelated to baseball that will help everyone have a better mindset.

Different train of thought but someone on this or another post made a comment recently - paraphrasing from memory - to the effect some actions of the coach were a reflection of someone who had a contract extension? Curious. Does Morando have a multi year contract? In the past and maybe it was in the way distant past the baseball coaching job was I thought a year to contract. Just curious what the current state of affairs is?

Well I was a 2 time All-Southern Conference player. My sophomore year I was not performing at the plate and was sit on the pine for 15 straight games. Needless to say I was not a very happy camper. I had never sit on the bench in anything. Let me tell you this, when I got back in the lineup I never came out again. My attitude, my commitment, my desire, everything changed. If improvements don't happen right away, and they very well could if others are given a fair chance, improvements may happen later because you inspire them to be better not to be complacent. This is actually coaching everyone on the team not just the favorites. We can't do no worse Coach Mo! I to played Baseball for the Catamounts. Every word you have written is absolutely correct. I hate to think about the number of coaches that have been fired for playing favorites. I do not blame the players because they do not make out the lineups. What we are witnessing is the worst display of Coaching in Catamount Baseball History. I remember when Coach Mo assumed the responsibilities of Pitching Coach & Head Coach Positions several years ago. He tried to change the throwing motion of several of his pitchers & about half the staff developed arm trouble. I think he tried to get the Head Coaching Positions at Penn State & the University of Cincinnati. He has had several teams that should have won the SoCon but wound up playing two games & out. I have tried to defend him because of the lack of available scholarships in the past. After what I’m watching this season, it is time for his departure. Bring back Todd Raleigh or Jack Leggett. When I have watched the Cats play, it almost looks like he does not give a flip about what is going on. Look at the stats & the games the starters have played in and his favorites will jump out at you.
