I was looking at our roster trying to figure out if there was really a player problem and ran across some great facts about our team -- especially, the freshman, red-shirt freshman and sophomores. Needless to say, we have a number of highly touted players that are upperclassmen, but we have some real players who could contribute right now!
First, Perfect Game and other scouting services love our guys! Their rating system rates from 1 to 10 (10 - very high draft pick, 9 - potential top 10 round pick, 8 - potential mid-round pick). Almost all of our players were PG All Americans.
Zack Franklin's fastball was ranked in the 96th percentile among his graduating class by Perfect Game!
Chase Walter's fastball also ranked in the 96th percentile among his graduating class and named to "Top Prospect Teams" by Perfect Game. 9
Andrew Robinson is considered one of the best outfield prospects out of North Carolina!
Bo Fricks (MIF) holds 3 Perfect Game Norcal Showcase Records and was named to numerous Perfect Game "Top Prospect Teams" 8.5
Bryson Parks (OF) and Immanuel Wilder (10th in AL) were highly touted OF out of high school from their respective states.
Will Prater (MIF) was named to numerous, Perfect Game All-tournament teams. 8
Kitt Capell's (C) Catcher Pop-Time was above the 90th percentile in his class (PG All American) 8
Luke Robinson (C) was the No. 3 ranked Catcher in NC.
Ryan Mitschele (P) was a Perfect Game All-American despite undergoing Tommy John surgery his senior year. 8
The bottom line is that we have a bunch of great players on this team. Perfect Game saw it! Is it possible that Coach doesn't know what he has? Let's get them in position and use them to make our team better!!!

Evaluations of players and high school stats can be subjective. Scouts miss. Coaches miss. But 3 wins is disheartening.

and all that means ... NOTHING.
I'd rather have players who were overlooked by the scouts and be 23-3 instead of the other way around.
Just goes to show that lighting up the radar gun on your fastball doesn't make you a competitive pitcher.

Not trying to speak for “Team First” but I believe the point was we do have some talent. Now for my comment.... it’s the coaches jobs to develop that talent and but them in a position to win/succeed.

Perfect Game is Crap. What we have right now is non hitting error making players. Others need to play and get a fair shot. 26 games is enough! Here is what Good College Coaches do. They make changes and to get it right. Sometimes the changes are right sometimes the message is right! This does not mean getting PH for in the 9th inning or even sitting one game. The message is someone else is going to get a fair chance because you are not doing the job. This way you are coaching everyone not just favorites. I guarantee things will change in the dugout on the field and in practice if you have to man up to keep your position. That is not happening right now.

A mid-week game is a good opportunity for the guys who aren't getting regular ABs to get a chance to shine and perhaps, a chance to earn a weekend start. There needs to be some competition for playing time for sure.
I think what the guy was trying to say was that we have some great players who aren't getting a shot - in a nice way!

The Coach is going to do what the Coach is going to do and so far that would be Lose! Those Boys can't be having fun at 3-23.

The team as a whole (players and coaches) are not getting the job done. I think there should be many changes and I believe some players on the bench should be given more of an opportunity than a "trash" at bat in the 9th inning. Good coaches can make players better....My point was I do not believe our players are getting better and that is a reflection on the coaches.

Gotta wonder about the mindset of those that have been forgotten. I'm sure these are competitive minded young men that are confused about what is happening. Any athlete at this level has heard thousands of times "work hard and produce and you will play". I would have to guess that the forgotten ones are hoping for some sign that they are trusted and can play. The chosen ones are being reassured every time the lineup is posted. Regardless of their lack of production they are right back out there. This goes against any type of experiences our players have had at any level since Velcro gloves. Ride through this madness forgotten ones. This isn't how it is supposed to happen. Stay committed. Work hard. But most importantly don't press if you get the opportunity. We got you. Things are probably gonna get tougher before they get better. Probably about to be tough days on the diamond. Stick with it. Sad but true that as a team you are 3 - a bunch. Go Cats! GATA Cats

Pardon the anonymous post. I have my reasons, which I hope you all will respect.
It is discouraging. VERY DISCOURAGING.
I can assure you that if some of the guys on the bench were given 80 to 100 ABs, you would have some .300 hitters. Instead, they have a 1/4 of that if they are lucky in 9th inning garbage time or against a pitcher with an ERA of 0.15.
The lineup is set. Period. You may earn a spot start or a DH job for the night if you scratch out a double in a garbage, 9th inning AB. But, other than that, there is no competing for a spot. There was never a competition.
Barring an injury, nothing will really change. Sure, one of the subs might get a start if one of the regulars makes 2 errors in an inning or strikes out 3 times in a game. But, after that, it's right back to the same old thing.
This is the biggest bunch of crap I have ever witnessed in my life and I've seen a lot of baseball. It's sickening to the players and to the fans.
