Chase Walter struck out eight in tossing his first complete game as Western Carolina made a first-inning, two-run home run by Justice Bigbie stand up to pull even in the best-of-three Southern Conference series with a 2-1 victory over the Furman Paladins on Saturday afternoon at Latham Stadium.
Walter limited Furman to just four singles, only allowing two Paladin base runners to get past second base. The Peachtree City, Ga., native retired eight-straight between the first and third innings. His eight strikeouts were just one shy of his career-best.
Even at one win apiece, the series rubber match is scheduled for a 1 pm first pitch on Sunday afternoon at Latham Stadium.

I agree! I thought Caleb made some great plays at third and loved the reaction of Chase when outs were made at the end! Good stuff!
