For the life of me they cant find or sign the necessary defensive lineman
You cant depend on 250 pound interior def lineman
Wofford, Citadel, Chatt all have 6 ft 1 290 lb def lineman who gobble up the run

We never sign that many linemen but we always recruit a lot of DBs, RBs and WR. Most coaches know that games are won in the trenches but it seems our coaches do not know this. It is sad.

As for JuCos and transfers, I think I have read on this board in the past people saying that route to fill some strategic holes is a good idea. While I agree I’d like to see particularly big, “ready to play” D-lineman coming in that way, clearly we are not going to change our offensive scheme. If that is true, this tells me they need a guy who fits that QB mold and is more ready to play than what we have on the roster.
I am not arguing it as a good thing - just stating it as what would seem obvious. They will play the same offense and they need a Troy or Tyrie kind of guy they feel they don’t currently have. The problem is JuCos are hit or miss for even making it to campus and staying.

Every class Receivers, qb's, small players Bullcrap I guess we cannot sign taller receivers and DBs and we cannot sign big offensive and defensive linemen. In most games this year, we got whipped in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Agree that we can sign the best skill players in the world but if we cannot sign some skilled big linemen to block for them, it really does not matter. It seems like it is never a priority in recruiting to get good linemen. I am sure we will hear this year at the annual get together that we met all our needs and that the Cats got better, etc. etc. Check the box. but always remember, that we have a great band and why else do we play football than to have a band concernt 5 or 6 times in the fall.

I saw we just offered another JUCO lineman. I think the coaches are seeing they can not recruit large lineman so they are going the JUCO route to fill those troubled but needed spots.
