I'm not suggesting I believe it will happen, but does a win at UNC this weekend validate the coaching staff in it's current form? Should Speir's approach going into 2019 change if Western pulls the upset? Should staff changes still be made?
For what it's worth, to my knowledge, WCU has never beaten an FBS level school. I believe our record is something in the realm of 0-55 all time.

LOL, we will NOT even be in the game. They will beat us worse than they did last year. They can score points and will lay at least 60 on us, probably 70. We'll be lucky to score 14. Glad this train wreck comes to an end on Saturday, I'm a huge college football fan and Cat Fan, but I'm just tired of the roller coaster ride we've had since 2012. Major changes need to be made before 2019, we're already guaranteed 2 loses next year (NCSU and Alabama), so 2019 is already looking bleak. But I'll be at the games as my seats are way too good to give up and enjoy the tailgates.

The only thing we need to do this weekend is make sure nobody suffers a life changing injury. The Tarheels are going to run the score up on us and we will be lucky to keep them from scoring 70+
As to answer your questions. If an upset happened, coaching changes should still be made as the team still finished 4-8 with one of the worst defense ever fielded by a WCU coach (no I'm not going to fact check that).
I wish I was a reporter in the audience as I would ask the following question "Considering your job will be on the line this next season, do you plan to make the necessary changes to replace your current under performing coaches? Specifically defense and special teams."
Unfortunately we don't have a reporter that will ask that type of question.

GO CATS You can't already claim that the next season looks bleak with 2 FBS losses as they don't count against us when considering playoffs.

What gives you hope that we'll beat any of the teams we lost to this year, please tell me!! And losses are losses, I didn't say anything about playoffs, which is hilarious to think anyway. 2019 does look very bleak, but please tell me why it won't be!!

There is no guarantee that we would beat any teams next year however our team is older and if we can keep the team together maybe something will work out. You can't look at Speir's record and think this year is normal as he has 3 winning season and 4 losing seasons. (2 of which are in his first 2 years fixing Wagner's mistakes)
Of course he isn't up to many others standards of 8 or 9 wins but he has managed 3 good seasons and 2 seasons where the wheels fell off completely. In my honest opinion, if he is able to make the necessary changes, next year can be another winning season.

My response to the question about gaining hope for next year is consistency. With experience these young guys especially on defense should gain that consistency. Let’s look back to how the season progressed. We held Furman to little yardage in the second half, we had ETSU on the ropes several times, were in good position against Wofford. We obviously have the talent to compete just lack the ability to put a whole game together. I am not saying that we will be a 7-8 win team again next year, but I am saying optimistically speaking this should be were our hope rests.

The most inspiring thing that could happen prior to this game, is for Speir to resign!

The most inspiring thing that could happen prior to this game, is for Speir to resign! He has no reason to resign as there isn't anything out there that is worth leaving for. I'm not sure he would even leave for an App job. Speir needs to make some changes to get the defense back under control

I am sure he will stay through next season and we will probably win maybe 3 games again. I doubt if he is getting offers. If they extend his contract I am totally done following. We will remain about a 35% winner as long as there is a few smaller schools we can play. The school needs to be called out for not supporting having winning sports. I am not holding my breathe!
