I think this was the early signing day, don't they normally have a huge signing day in February?

We only had five early signees last year... three of our four are enrolling next month thus being able to participate in Spring Ball …

I think this was the early signing day, don't they normally have a huge signing day in February? The “official” signing day is still in February. But last year they created this “early” signing period and about 80% of the kids will sign in this timeframe (Wednesday - Friday). If you look at the numbers, many of the other SoCon schools are getting the guys they target now versus having to wait (several with double-digit LOIs signed already). The February date is now more about guys who are holding out for an offer, or who have slipped through the cracks. I don’t expect those SoCon schools who already have lots of guys to sign many others unless some highly-valued recruit falls to them for some reason. I expect WCU, ETSU, and UTC to take whatever they can get in February. Not bashing anybody, but signing the second-fewest guys in this period doesn’t look particularly good. I like the guys we got, but we need a lot more.

Totally agree. As mentioned by coach Speir, we are not going to have a large signing class, but this # of early signees is weak. The quality looks very good.

So, we had three commitments over the summer. After all of the twitter posts by coaches from all over the south we signed one new guy! Not much bang for our recruiting buck it would appear. It would be nice to know what we are doing!

Great young man... my last year of coaching he was a 7th grader... put him at Center and Nose... the center of the line was took care of on both sides of the ball... great feet, hips... only going to get stronger... great student and just an all around nice young man... very happy for him (and us!) enrolling in January so he will have time with Coach Barr and take part in Spring Ball...

Every kid we can get on campus for the Spring is great. Those guys get used to being a college student, get to practice, get to know the team/coaches, and maybe most importantly they get into a college weight room/strength and conditioning program earlier to be prepared for the Fall. This is a little over-stated, but it is almost like they get a redshirt before their first year.
