We talk about the Football Coaching Staff's failures on this forum all the time, but Baseball the last 2 years has been a complete disappointment. I think Bobby must produce this year and by the looks of things I don't think they will. I always attend the LeClair Tournament at ECU when The Cats are there as my son, sister, brother in law and nephews are ECU Alums or are still there. Not sure I want to be subjected to the abuse this year.

I think maybe we should look at Mornada's record at WCU. It looks pretty damn good to me. What sport, other than T&F, has put up numbers & SoCon Championships like this? Certainly not football or basketball. You all want to keep a football coach, even if he has another losing season in 2019 with would make him 3-5 in winning seasons. I just don't understand WCU fans.

That being said, the last 4 seasons have not seen us get past .500, and our collective record in those 4 seasons is 96-136 (winning percentage of 41.38%). Throw in the last 5 and he is 133-154 (46.34%). Speir in that same period? Last 4 he is 19-26 (42.22%) and last 5 he is 26-31 (45.61%). So there is not a ton of difference in how successful we have been on the baseball diamond versus the football field for the past 4 of 5 years.

NOTE: I am not happy with the numbers for either program, but trying to put things in relative terms.

Put this in perspective then, how many regular season championships or tournament championships have football and basketball brought to Cullowhee the last 11 seasons?

As I said, I am not happy with the lack of success for both programs over the past 5 years. But in relative terms, they have been performing about the same in that timeframe. Baseball and T&F have no doubt been our best sports long-term, but baseball has not finished OVER the .500 mark in the last 4 seasons and only 1 in the past 5 (football has finished over .500 in 3 of those 5).

I've watched the slide since 2015. Trust me it's either produce or get out for Bobby. This is not a proud program anymore.

I might add that Coach Mo only had 6 scholarships to work with during that time period. He had to compete against Programs that had 11.7 scholarships available. I don’t think the Basketball Program or the Football Program ever had to compete against other Programs with only half the scholarships allowed by the NCAA. You can also add the fact that Coach only had a very limited recruiting budget which was an albatross around his neck when it came to recruiting out of State Players. As much as I hated last season, the Baseball Program has done the most with limited resources of any Program in the SoCon. Now that the Baseball Program is fully funded, I hope this will be a big shot in the arm for positive results in the SoCon as well as against outside competition. I also hope these new Coaches are a valuable help to Coach Mo & the players.

Unless you are the AD, I don't think you have much of a say in it. Your opinion is no better or worse than any other Catamount baseball fan. You may not be proud of the baseball program, but I am, as is a helluva lot more.
