Mascot: Red Storm Conference: Big East Location: Queens, New York City, NY St Johns Baseball information:
2018 Overall Record: 40-17 2018 BIG EAST Record: 15-3 2018 BIG EAST Regular Season Finish: First 2018 BIG EAST Tournament Finish: Champs 2018 Final RPI Rank: 33 Starters Returning/Lost: 2/7 Letterwinners Returning/Lost: 17/15 Newcomers:17 St. John's is coming off a 2018 campaign that saw the program continue its string of sustained success under longtime Head Coach Ed Blankmeyer. The skipper, who sits just two wins shy of 800 for his career, led St. John’s to its ninth BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament titles in 2018, as the team went 40-17 overall with a 15-3 mark in BIG EAST play. The Red Storm returned plenty of talent from last year’s squad that placed nine players on either the All-BIG EAST First or Second Teams. The Johnnies welcome back two starting pitchers from their postseason rotation, as Sean Mooney and Jeff Belge will look to get their junior campaigns off on the right foot. Mooney, who garnered four separate All-American honors at the end of last year, tied the St. John’s single-season wins record by going 11-3 as a sophomore. He became just the sixth hurler in program history to strike out 100 or more batters in a campaign and turned in a 2.56 ERA. Belge put forth his best efforts when it mattered most for St. John’s in 2018, closing out the season with back-to-back nine-strikeout outings against Seton Hall in the BIG EAST Tournament and Clemson in the NCAA Regional.

I am by no means a baseball expert, but Captain Obvious here. To me it does not look like we match up very well against the Red Storm. If we can win one game in this series that may bode well for us this year. I just hope we do not get swept. I think Oakland would be a last place team in the Socon or Big South so I do not think we have had a good test so far this year. Does anyone think we will win at least one game against St John's?

One of maddest times ever on baseball field came vs St John’s in 1999!! If you don’t believe in jinx in baseball I can tell you they are 100% real Tell us more! Back the we played double headers and second game was 7 innings and I always started 7 inning games. I had no hitter thru 6 innings. Before 7th my buddy says good job you know you have no hitter right? Or something like that. So first batter hits seed up middle and I can’t get so base hit. I turn to dugout and start screaming f bombs at him and end up with 1 hitter🤬

Tentative plans are for a doubleheader, moving the start time up to Noon. Officials at WCU will survey the situation at the field on Friday afternoon to better judge the official start time on Saturday. Even though the field has been covered much of the week, the sheer amount of rain that has fallen over the past week may warrant extra field prep time and could delay the start of the newly scheduled twin bill.
At this time, Sunday’s series finale will remain at a 1 pm first pitch unless the two teams are unable to get two games in on Saturday as every effort will be made to play all three games.

I wish there were some kind of broadcast, either espn+, catamount network, audio, heck id be ok with a visiting audio or telecast. Or even better get some students to broadcast the game, or someone thats going to use a mobile stream app like periscope. I can deal with no video but dang would like some audiofeed of the game even if its amatuerish student broadcasts available only online
