Hopefully - last year was an anomaly for our storied baseball team. I wish we could have gotten 3 nine inning games against a good St. John's team this weekend. I'll take 1-1 though. Indiana State comes in undefeated on Tuesday for 2 games with 3 wins against Jacksonville U., then single games with UNC-W, Marshall, and Iona.

Watched nearly all the game on ESPN+. A good win over a strong team. Baseball America has Indiana State picked #3 in the MVC.
Following was copied from Baseball America website.
Projected Standings (2018 records) 1. Missouri State (40-17, 18-3) 2. Dallas Baptist (42-21, 16-5) 3. Indiana State (31-24, 11-10) 4. Bradley (32-19, 11-10) 5. Southern Illinois (28-30, 10-11) 6. Illinois State (22-30, 9-12) 7. Valparaiso (19-34, 6-15) 8. Evansville (12-39, 3-18)
We made entirely too many errors. Too many HBP's. Almost comical how we kept shooting ourselves in the foot and staying in trouble.
Shutout pitching for the 7th, 8th and 9th innings was very good since we were clinging to a one run lead continuously after taking the 10-9 lead in the bottom of the 6th. Many years we would have found a way to lose a one-run lead in 3 innings. And we almost did.... Got first two out in the 9th and then loaded the bases with an E, HBP and a BB before getting the 3rd out.
Jacob Corn is a piece of work. He will be a conversation piece this year.
We are going to win some games this year... Indiana State could be a good barometer to measure our relative position in the SoCon. They play a 4 game series in Macon vs. Mercer March 8-10 and then The Citadel goes up there for 3 games March 15-17.

You are right Woodie. I was there, and left after the 5th inning for dinner with some friends. However, looking at the scoreboard and seeing ISU with 9 runs on 3 hits was demoralizing. At that point we also had 4 errors. We aren't going to win many 5 error games - but we squeaked it out and that shows character that we didn't have last year. Also - HITTING that we didn't have last year. Big weekend in Greenville NC this week. Would like to go at least 2-1.

Also, Coach Mo continues to leave starting pitchers in the game to long & puts the team in a hole before he brings in relief pitchers. He has gotten away with it this season because he has a better hitting team than last year’s team. I also think Indiana State has a good hitting team & compares favorably with the top teams in the SoCon. Mercer & ETSU have decent W/L Records but Mercer has not played a good baseball team & the good teams on ETSU Schedule have wins over them. If the WCU’s starting pitchers could give the team 6 or 7 good innings, I think the relievers can get the job done. It is good to once again look at the stats and see a lot of the players in the starting lineup that are hitting over 300. This weekend should tell us a lot about the Catamounts. My major concern about the Catamounts this season is the Conference Schedule. Play to many of the better teams on the road this season.
