Do the players on the team like and respect the new coaches? I did not see many games this year but did they play hard for him? In the past I felt Hunters teams did not play hard for him. The time i am talking about were his last 5 or 6 years at WCU.

We have never been able to recruit a true center for as long as I can remember. I hope our fortunes turn around and we get a true center who is an above average player. Based on past experience though, I am not confident that we will get a true good center. I hope we do. Dotson had 27&13 in 27 minutes..... are y’all saying that he needs to be replaced ? That’s crazy No he does not need to be replaced. He is a power forward & not a Center.

I think in the end what this year showed me is we have a long way to go before we even get in the top 3 of the conference and even in saying that, aside from this year most likely the Socon is a 1 bid league. So instead of being a top 3 team, we have to be the best team and unless the new coaching staff can recruit some way better players we will stay in the bottom of the standings and continue to lose 3 times to VMI. I want to be positive but even worse than football i think basketball has a longer climb back up. I have not been impressed in a very long time with the players we have been bringing in. I am not saying the new coaching staff can't but even the players we have signed so far are smaller than what we are now seeing in the Socon. Also the players, in high school, are only avg 8 to 10 points a game. So if they avg that low in high school i doubt they raise their avg vs better players in college. I just am not seeing from a recruiting standpoint the talent that will make us jump to the top and make the NCAA Tournament. I hate to say that but i went back and looked at who we recruited that we really could see playing on the team and the ones who committed and I am not impressed. Basketball also is harder to compete in if you do not have 2 or more top tier players. In football, it is easier to hide a lack of talent if you have a good scheme. Basketball it is obvious when there is a lack of talent. At the beginning of the season, I was hopeful as the team was playing better than what the talent we had on the floor but as the season went on and teams were able to get tape on the players and coaches it went way downhill from there. I think it will be 4-5 years before we even see anything worth watching and the problem that comes with that is the student body could care less about the team. If you watch the games on ESPN plus there are maybe 500-1000 people there total. Most of these guys played with bigger, hyper crowds in high school than what the students are putting on. If they start winning you might see more butts in the crowd but i think they will have to be consistent in winning before we see a decent crowd there. The size of the RAC does not help though.

Don't forget, next season we'll have a true point guard, Mason Faulkner that sat out this past season due to transfer rules. This should allow Halvorsen to concentrate on scoring and hopefully will help his concisely. Faulkner will be a redshirt junior and having set out the year should make a big difference, also Faulkner has had a year with the team to learn the system, and should be ready to go. I'm optomistic about the season, not looking for a championship, but hopefully a finish in the top half of the conference will be a big improvement.

It does concern me that he did not put up close to those kind of stats at NKU. It could be a chemistry thing or maybe he was not given a chance. Something has to be up with what happened at NKU. In my humble opinion, I think Coach Prosser is a good young coach that will eventually win if we give him a chance to build a program. I think he presents a very professional and positive image for Western Carolina. As far as the students not caring about the program and empty seats in the RAC, if we can put together 2 or 3 twenty win seasons and win the conference tournament, people will fill the RAC. Western used to draw 3500 people to the games in the early 80s and there is no reason we cannot draw an average of 5000 if we just win. Easier said than done. Lack of winning is the only reason that we do not pack the RAC.
