I've got a picture, but no play-by-play announcer?

What a great day in the Whee for baseball yesterday. Too bad the students were on Spring Break or the place would have really been rocking. Big Bat Day and the defense came through when needed. Granted they aren't baseball powers but The Cats have beaten 3 P5 schools in a row.

I’m glad the Cats made my drive from Myrtle Beach worthwhile. I thought the bats were fantastic & the defense played well. I think Luke Robinson did a fantastic job behind the plate. I also think Walters & Snyder looked good on the mound. They had command of their pitches & stayed ahead in pitch count. I also liked Jack Snyder’s form & deliver to the plate. I also liked the opposite field hitting by hitters in the lineup. The other pitchers used during the game need a lot of work on their delivery to the plate. Too many pitches in the dirt & pitchers staying behind in the ball/strike count. Way too many walks by the pitchers in this game. If people payed close attention to the ND hitters, everyone of their hitters were taking the first pitch for the entire game. Knowing they were taking the first pitch, our pitchers could not consistently throw strikes on their first pitch to the ND hitters. For the most part, Coach Mo did a great job pulling pitchers when they were not throwing strikes. The only exception was when he left Corn in too long which resulted in a grand slam home run that tied the game at 9 apiece. The pitchers that had trouble in this game were behind in the count with the hitters & could not consistently get their break balls over for strikes. Sure would be helpful if they could learn how to throw a circle change or a split finger fast ball. Again, hitting was very good & productive with runners on base. Coach Mo made some very good decisions when he made changes in base runners to enhance the probability they could score on a base hit. I like what I’m seeing but I’m still concerned about having to play the predictive top teams in the SoCon on the road.

Indiana State’s record is 13-1 so far this season. Their only lost came against the Mighty Cats of Cullowhee.
