bc, I watched Will QBing when he was in High School & he looked very good at that level. However, he is a not an RPO type QB & Speir will not change the offense to help Will be more effective. Since Speir arrived in Cullowhee, he has been dogmatic about running the Spread Offense. He has never had a backup QB that could successfully run this offense. Therefore, for the last 7 years he has put those seasons in jeopardy because he would not adjust the offense to match the talents of his players. After watching the NC State Game, we were still running the RPO Offense with a Drop Back Pro Style QB that only ran the ball to avoid being sacked. Tyrie is a running back that can throw the Football. However, Will is a throwing QB & not an Elusive Running Back like Tyrie. I expect (hope) as the season goes on that the coaches install more plays that utilize Will's skills. If they do then we have a chance to win games or at least be competitive. If they don't change the offense it won't matter who is QB. bc, I could not agree with you more. Someone in a previous post stated that we are throwing in the towel on Will. I’m not throwing the towel in at all. I just want the offense to change from the RPO Offense to an Offense that would be more compatible for Will to become successful as the QB.

Totally agree with Jim here. I am in no way knocking Will - he was a highly productive HS quarterback, and has the skills to do the same at the SoCon level in a more pro-style scheme. I think he can be productive in the WCU offense, but not to the degree guys like Tyrie or even Troy were. If we shift the offense to take advantage of what Will brings to the table, he has the ability to excel. If we keep the same scheme/approach (which I can't believe we will change given the coaches in place and history), he can be an adequate to maybe slightly above adequate QB.
I still don't think you jump to Richardson given Will's experience in the system, but if we aren't capable of adjusting the offense to Will we are asking him to do something that is not really in his wheelhouse.

... if we aren't capable of adjusting the offense to Will... Such a simple statement with a host of importance. So far, I'm not convinced our co-offensive coordinators have gotten to the level of making such big swings. They seem stuck in the dogma of swing/bubble passing and sweep running. Look down to Greenville where the new Furman staff has done a brilliant job mixing old school football offense and 'modern' RPO offense.

Such good points being made. I just don’t think a prostyle quarterback no matter his name where he came from the fitness system. The coaches will not adjust the system so therefore unless we have a great RPO quarterback or someone that can make moves with his feet we are just doomed. Molique Richardson will be the quarterback of the future to be able to make those please. It just seems like he will get the red shirt this year and be prepared for next year to be in the mix

Will is not a Pro Style QB. Not sure where you are getting that from. Will is more in the style of Tebow, he has a very good arm and though he's not an elusive runner like Tyrie he can run.

In looking at his hs junior and senior pass completion percentages - the were just a little over 50% and it only gets harder in college ball.

A good Coach changes the Offensive or Defensive Schemes to match the available talents of his players.

He is not an elusive or running QB. He is pro style. Even stated by 247 Sports, also idk what elusive means but it’s certainly not -17 rushing yards.. this isn’t golf.

Did you watch any games that WCU played last year with Will at QB?

In the NC State Game, Will ran the ball 4 times & lost 17 yards. Will can run the ball but is not a typical RPO QB.
