Would we have to pay Spiers for 5 yrs. if we dropped football? I have watched APP ,GA.SOUTHERN,LIBERTY and others pass us by and we have dropped to the bottom of the SOCO. A conference that we should dominate. I say its time to drop football and accept defeat. Please explain what good dropping football will do other than appease you and others with getting rid of Speir? That seems to be the reasoning I hear from everyone. “Let’s drop football so we can get rid of Speir and start it back later on” 🤷🏽♂️ We cannot drop football. If we dropped football, the Marching Band would go away immediately and the wine and cheese crowd would not have that. So football is safe for that reason alone. We will limp along underfunded just like we have for years. Folks things are never going to change in Cullowhee when it comes to athletics.

I will agree that the Chattanooga game is a make or break game. If the team can rally and pull some momentum from last week's win, this season can be respectable. However, if we come out flat like we did against Mercer, we are staring down the barrel of a dreadful season Couldn’t agree more here. We have to jump out To an early lead and hope that Tyrie is back with a vengeance.. One thing for sure is the fact that UTC has a weak defense based on the games that I have watched them play. The dang Offensive Coordinators need to step up & stop making conservative play callings. Their past play calling did not match up with trying to run an RPO Offense & it caused the WCU Offense to not be as effective as it should have been during the previous games.

One thing is for certain, our offensive line needs to do a better job of blocking and creating time for the quarterback.

One thing is for certain, our offensive line needs to do a better job of blocking and creating time for the quarterback. I agree with you. We do not throw the ball down the field. I think a lot of that has to do with the OLine not being able to protect the QB long enough to let a play to stretch the field develop. I can only hope that we can beat Chattanooga. If we lose, we will hear the coaches say, that a lot more wins are just around the corner and we need to more consistent and focus on fundamentals. I think that our coaches are the only folks that do not realize that we are not a well coached team. I heard Coach Speir say in last weeks Coaches show that in the bye week we are going to work on fundamentals on special teams, offense and defense. This has been a constant theme every year. We get into the season where the players make a bunch of mistakes and then coach Speir says we have to get back to basics and coach fundamentals. We have just played 3 games. Why was Mercer ready game 1 as a fundamentally sound football team and we were not? I have to give it to Coach Speir. He convinced Randy to give him a 5 year extension so that he would not have to worry about getting paid for the next 5 years. He knows if he is fired after next year, we have to pay him for 3 more years.

Unfortunately, if things don’t change drastically and quickly we will end up being everyone’s homecoming like the past.
