Why not? They are now professional athletes with NIL and the portal. Gone are the days where players committed to a school because they liked the school and wanted to stay there for four years. Might as well eventually have all the teams unionized. This way the players can strike if they do not get what they want. It’s the American way. Also I think all the TV money from March madness and the Bowl System should be divided up among all college athletes across the country. After all, people tune in to watch the players and not the coaches or the schools. These are the same arguments that were used to get NIL enacted so why stop there. Take the money away from the schools and the coaches and there will be no need for US universities to sponsor intercollegiate sports. Where does it end?
