I hope the new athletic improvements are as nice as the new basketball locker rooms

When are the new facilities coming? I believe I saw where Western hired an architect over 6 months ago, but have not heard or seen anything since then. Are new football facilities still coming?

I have not heard any defined start dates yet. I think there's much more money that needs to be raised first, then some type of bond/debt instrument has to be put in motion, and so on goes the process.
Maybe there are some folks that have more inside information that can give updates, but I've not been able to find out anything new of late.

I guess we will wait until we see earth movers. I will believe it when I see it. Communication must not be allowed because there is none as usual. They want us to give to the Catamount Club and buy season tickets, but they do not want to keep us informed.

They are still fundraising to get going.
Hate to be the Debbie downer and really don’t want to be negative because I agree with chancellor Brown that the time is now or probably never for this type of revamp to happen but I have to wonder if they will be able to raise 30 million. That is a very tall order.
I also think it will come down to lots of corporate sponsors and needing to whore WCU out to the corporations which I am 100% ok with.
I also think that Alex will make this project work at any and all cost because it will look bad on him if it fails for future employment opportunities.

Do we have to raise all 30 million or if say we raised 20 million they could cut corners on some things to make it work?

Do we have to raise all 30 million or if say we raised 20 million they could cut corners on some things to make it work? I don’t know where the “policies” per se fall now, but before they went into the silent phase of the campaign I was in a small meeting with Alex, Kelly Brown, and several donors and she said the public side had to raise their full 30 mill for it to happen as she would not put the rest of it on the “students” backs with debt and the student fees approvals. I feel confident that the project will happen either way but I think WCU will be whored out to anyone and anything that has money for this and if the campaign falls short they will still find any and all means to make it happen

I agree. This is a huge resume booster for Alex going forward This will be a career booster or a career hindrance in my opinion. Wins and turning things around help BUT a failed project like this will hurt. A successful project will help him in his future endeavors. I am not trying to be negative all the way around because I do want this thing to succeed but I think most people don’t realize how many donors with big money it will take to get $30 million.
