Western does not have alot of big boosters Correct and I know for a fact they have ruined some relationships with some very big deep pocket people that could give a lot of money if they wanted to

I thought we were further along than this. I believe that we were trying to raise $30 million for athletic facilities and $30 million for non-athletic projects and $30 million would then come from bonds paid back by additional student fees. About a year ago in the minute of one of the BOT meetings the Chancellor said they have raised $37 million of the $60 million in the silent phase. Can’t we take the $30 million needed for athletics and use it for the athletic match? Also, if we did not have all the money, why would we have hired an architect? This isn’t adding up because you guys are saying we still have money to raise. Seems like we have enough for the athletic part to me. Also, let’s say we do fall short, I would think there are rules or laws prohibiting the university to use the money elsewhere if the money was specifically given for athletic facilities. I just wish they would communicate what the heck is going on.

I don’t know anything about having 37 million already, but I do know within the last month or two I know they were still contacting people for lead gifts and trying to get large money on the table from a select group of people. As I understand it they are well short of the 30 mil required by the public for the 60 mil of athletic funds needed, but I do agree some communication would be nice. I don’t know as much anymore as I used to when it comes to info as my kids require an Uber every weekend to their sports games so I’ve had to step back quite a bit from everything.

I thought the purpose of two or three of the new CC position was donor and alumni relations

I thought the purpose of two or three of the new CC position was donor and alumni relations I don’t know many specifics of “why” some relationships were ruined just from at least that they’d never get another dollar from him. I think you are going to see that if you don’t give really decent money that there is not going to be any donor relations or outreach etc. I have a feeling that Alex is going to start running athletics like a power five schools and as you know in a power five school, you aren’t getting the time of day from someone unless you give big money.

I don’t think that has anything to do with the athletic facilities campaign, because that campaign was not even being talked about in 2019. They just entered the silent phase for getting lead donors to go public and hoorah having lots of money already pledged, within like the last year and a half so I think this is something completely different. But either way I commend you for at least sharing the link of the video at the exact time that it happens and not making me watch a full trustee board meeting 🤣🤣

Not 2019. There is only one campaign. I read the transcripts so I know what date this is for.

The honoring our promise campaign is a five-year campaign, and that is the campaign for athletic facilities. It did not start in 2019 as it was announced in Spring of 2022 and at that time was when they were doing small group presentations to donors in various cities as i sat in one and their goal was to get the lead donors on board for the lead gifts to get going. www.wcu.edu/stories/posts/honoring-our-promise.aspx

There is only one campaign happening now. I think you have your dates confused. I am confused at what you are saying. It sounds like you believe that there are two campaigns but I know there is only one campaign. No way Western has 2 capital campaigns going on at the same. So we have raised over $36 million to date for the only campaign that is happening at Wester now and this campaign includes athletic facilities improvements. Excerpts from the link you posted above: “This culture is the heartbeat of WCU. Now, the university is aiming to nurture that culture with a comprehensive “Honoring Our Promise” campaign that will help provide academic program support and build a stronger infrastructure for athletic facilities.” if you read to the bottom of the link you posted, it talks about the West Stands and replacing Jordan-Phillips Field-house and upgrading the track. This is the campaign for improving athletic infrastructure facilities and it did not start in 2022. My original question stands. If we have raised $36 million dollars, why can’t we star. Is the chancelor saying that $45 million before we issue the bonds for the $30 million.
