8 wins would also tie us with the 1984 team for the most regular season wins since joining the SOCON. Looks like the 1983 team finished the regular season 7-2-1 with both losses being to ACC teams (Clemson and Wake Forest) - so no FCS/I-AA regular season losses. As a D1 program, we have only won 8 or more those two seasons. We have won 7 games only 5 times (3 times under Speir, 1 time under Bleil, 1 time under Hodgin). So 8 wins puts us up there as one of the best seasons ever in Catamount football history. Get to 9 regular season wins and it is rarified air for most programs, and it would be the most successful regular season (in terms of wins and winning percentage) we have ever had.
Not comparing this team and the 1983 or 1984 teams yet, but just saying with still a lot to play for and prove this has shaped up as a very special Catamount football season and I think the team will be even better next year.
