I love the rankings and the national exposure, but i worry about it becoming too much of a distraction. I hope the Cats get back on track and take care of business this weekend against Mercer. If they do that, the rankings take care of themselves

I agree. I wonder if that played into the teams poor performance last week

I hope we take cate of business too. Mercer has given us fits in the past and they are very capable of beating us if we are not ready. On paper and based on past performances this year, we should beat them. We need to be able to 1) Run the ball and 2) Protect the QB no matter who is playing and who is hurt. Our defense will be ok against Mercer as our strengths on defense match up well with what Mercer tries to do. We need to jump out to a 2 or 3 score lead or it will be a long afternoon. Just my 2 cents and opinion.

First playoff committee rankings came out today: www.si.com/college/fcs/news/fcs-football-playoff-committee-reveals-top-10-rankingsFurman is at #3 and WCU is at #9. Of note - several of the teams in front of us still have to play each other. Montana State plays Idaho this weekend and Montana in the last game. SDSU plays South Dakota this weekend and NDSU next week. So based on this, if we can keep winning it is not out of the question that we could get a seed and be guaranteed a home playoff game. So the Mercer game just keeps getting bigger.

That means a 1st round bye, and our first game WILL be played in Cullowhee.

Yep - we just need to move up one spot for the seed and bye. And like I said, several of the teams currently in front of us have to play each other. Just win Cats!!!
