Indianapolis native Micah Shrewsberry takes the reins of the Fighting Irish program after leading Penn State to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 12 years. Nearly every single player from last season's ND team is gone, including all the starters and the top seven scorers. Names like Dane Goodwin, Nate Laszewski, Cormac Ryan no longer lead that lineup, while freshman JJ Starling transferred to Syracuse.
Notre Dame is coming off another rough season, winning just 11 games last year, and are replacing virtually every bit of production. Shrewsberry has been busy both on the recruiting trail and utilizing that transfer portal, but what can realistically be expected from a completely new-look team?
Projected Starters
Guard – Markus Burton (Freshman)
Guard – Braeden Shrewsberry (Freshman)
Guard – Julian Roper II (Junior)
Forward – Tae Davis (Sophomore)
Forward – Kebba Njie (Sophomore)
The Fighiting Irish come into the game having won two contests on their home floor, beating Hanavor College (Exibition game) 96-62 and Niagara 70-63. Markus Burton stole the show with 29 points, and were the highest ever in a Notre Dame freshman debut, topping the previous mark of 27 set by Laphonso Ellis back in 1988.
