Hm. Doesn’t look like they’re retiring the number You could be right, but how to you "honor" a number, unless you retire it? Leave it to Western Carolina... I agree. What does a guy got to do to get his number retired at Western Carolina? He averaged over 20 points a game for 3 years, was drafted in the first round of the NBA draft, and played 12 years in the NBA and scored over 12,000 points. He is the most accomplished athlete in Western Carolina history, hands down. You are right. “Leave it to Western Carolina…”. Geez. Another brilliant move by my Alma mater. NOT.

Michael Spicer is one that feels the school has overlooked him and i tend to agree. He should be in the HOF He does and he’s very vocal about it…I agree with him on the player accolades part but he’s also very salty that he’s never been asked to come back and coach. I don’t really have an opinion on him wanting to coach and I’m not sure why he is so adamant that he he should be considered to come back and coach. I didn't know he wanted to coach here

Here's the answer I got back from the athletic department when I asked if Kevin's #32 is being retired.
I think everyone should send an email to the AD and challenge this. Alex Gary: athleticsdirector@email.wcu.edu

Here's the answer I got back from the athletic department when I asked if Kevin's #32 is being retired. I think everyone should send an email to the AD and challenge this. Alex Gary: athleticsdirector@email.wcu.edu I posted their reply, their reply has now been deleted: CatamountSportsForum @catsportsforum · 11h I have a question. Does this mean that #32 is being retired in honor of Kevin, or is there just going to be a jersey hung with #32 on it, but the number is not retired? This Post was deleted by the Post author. I'll try to paraphrase their reply, it stated Kevin's number would be "honored" not retired. It stated we currently have a team member wearing that number, and any future player wearing that number would be given special care and thought.
Then, after my reply to their reply, they at some point, deleted their reply to my question. I have no idea why, unless someone is rethinking the "retired" idea, or the person making the answer to my question did not have the authority to do so.
The reply was from the main Catamount Twitter account...

I am not a genius fund raiser or public relations guru, but who ever is in charge of this at Western is not either. We should bend over backwards to honor athletes like K-Mart any chance we get. First he has achieved at the highest level in his field and he is a multi-millionaire because of achieving at the highest level in his career. This leaves me totally dumbfounded that whoever is in charge does not understand this. Kevin should be treated like royalty by Western Carolina. Never ceases to amaze though how incompetently some things are executed at Western. Geez. Someone needs to pay attention.

Other than a graphic on the floor in Reid gym look how long it took for them to do anything with Ronnie Carr. I mean it was only like 2018’ish that they had some thing at halftime of the basketball game. And as I stated in the other post, many of those athletes, who were standout are very salty towards the university for not acknowledging there excellent, athletic careers
