We could still play in a tournament even if Gray leaves which we still do not know if it is true. It might be true, but until we hear it from the horses mouth, no one on this board knows. We would just need to offer the head job to Coach Lightfoot and let him coach in the tournament. I hope that Western would not deny these young men a chance to compete in a tournament after a 22 win season just because of what a head coach chooses to do. That would not surprise me because that is about par for what we would do but I hope we put the student athlete first this time. If we don’t go to a tournament that means that we are not putting the student athlete first. I totally disagree. Those pay-to-play tournaments mean nothing. Nothing to the fans or the players. Now, if we got a bid to the NIT, I might think differently, but that's pie-in-the sky dreams for a SoCon team. SoCon = no respect. I agree, why would anyone want to play in these pay to play tournaments.

I doubt we do another CBI type of tournament. The SoCon gave each school money to use for pay to play tournaments. That’s how WCU afforded it last year.
Alex Gary got himself in trouble doing pay to play last year because then every team wanted to do it. I think money will keep them out, the fact the seniors are looking to what’s next, and AG wanting to limit how many of those we do.
