Hendersonville senior multi-sport standout Hailey Cook has chosen to accept a full athletic scholarship from Western Carolina University in track and field. One of the biggest factors in Cook's choice was getting to play her other love, volleyball, along with continuing her track and field career, at the college level. "In the end I just really wanted to play both sports; I wasn't ready to give up volleyball yet and I didn't want to say, a year from now, what if?" she said. "I couldn't get that thought out of the back of my mind and I didn't want to give up one over the other." It's a familiar place, as her brother, Wesley Cook, accepted an offer to play football there starting in 2009. "I feel so relieved; it's been a huge stress factor this year and I'm happy with my decision. I can now focus on school more, relax, play sports and have fun with it," Cook said. "I really liked the girls on the track team, especially the throwers. I fit in very well with them and I like the home-y feeling of Western." read more here
