Thank you for your support WCUHOPPYTOAD and CAWHEE. I’m sorry if I stepped on people's toes or damaged someone's fragile psyche, I didn't mean to offend anyone or "call a player out". I was certainly not asking anyone to go “Chuck Norris” on me. I was voicing my opinion on observations made at the games. Anyone who was there knows what I am talking about. I have a habit of calling it like I see it. It's just discouraging seeing a team that I have adopted have a player not respect the game or for that matter his coach and by association his teammates. I will from this point on refrain from using the name of a player. It makes it more difficult to follow a team when the only the good things are reported by the University ran Website (does this remind you of anything) if you cannot attend the game or talk with someone who was there. And yes I agree that the players should be held accountable for their actions on the field. Hopefully the coaching staff will address this since it appears unfavorable observations are not tolerated. Players in all sports must realize that once they put on a high school or college uniform they became a representative of the community, the school, the team and the sport as well as becoming a role model for kids attending the games. This is a responsibility that should not be taken lightly; this has not emphasized or enforced enough in high school, showcase and college sports and is evidenced by the behavior and actions of many professional athletes today.

I'm not giving anyone a pass, and am taking anything lightly, otherwise I'd have let your post stand. If a player does something out of line, he should be held accountable, but the Catamount Sports Forum is not the place to do it, and fans posting on a fan message board will do noting to correct any situation with an athlete, it can only cause hard feelings. If you or others feel a player demonstrated conduct that was detrimental to the baseball team, the proper place to point that out is to the coach. All WCU coaches phone numbers and email address is provided by the university, so you can easily contact them. What I will not allow is for someone to call a player out by name, doing so anonymously on this fan message board. If you want to post on a board full of "never give up" ASU fans, and WCU fans that are still bashing Barto, you can probably post what what you want to on the Pride board. This board was created to get away from all that stuff.

I don’t think anyone on this forum actually believes their comments are going to change or sway anything when it comes to the faculty/coaches making decisions on how to best run WCU, nor should it. When it comes down to it, not many of us at all have that kind of power, except for the few who believe that they know the right people, think they have donated enough money or my favorite, “my kid plays for the school”. So to be completely honest, most on this site are rational people and can handle a few negative remarks and comments. We don’t live in the world where everything is great, no one makes mistakes and we all get trophies for being second best. However, regardless of doing the “politically correct” thing, will there EVER be an instance when personal responsibility comes in to play? I hope this actually reaches the forum, because it is simply not okay to sweep this “under the rug”. Banning comments that attempt to bring inappropriate (putting it lightly) behaviors to light are now the thing that is deplorable and not the actual act. Now that’s how you prioritize! Please understand that by ignoring this behavior, you are condoning this behavior in this one forum. You can ban my posts on this forum, but you can’t ban my opinions. I understand that I am not a change agent in this arena, but by editing my concerns and keeping this hidden, you do make this seem as this is acceptable. It also appears that our student athletes are “above” any sense of ethics or responsibility in their representation of a prestigious university. So, in closing, I ask you to consider the message you send by banning freedom of opinion when it relates to standing up for what is expected when you are a representative to what those (including myself) believe to be a University of excellence and integrity. I also ask that you be held responsible to those that believe in WCU that have been here before and will long be here after. Those that have brought their friends, children and grandchildren to believe in the University deserve better than this representation. This is not the University attitude that I hold in high regards, and please know that you are a poor representation of such. By the way, my name is Jason Hopfinger, and I have no intentions of “hiding”.

By the way, my name is Jason Hopfinger, and I have no intentions of “hiding”. My only question is, did you take the time to read "terms of service" before posting on this forum? This forum in not the last bastion of freedom in the United Stats, it is a fan forum, it is not a place or the place to hold student athletes accountable for their conduct, on or off the field. It is also a board that has rules for posting, I try my best to fairly enforce those rules, without playing favorite. There is also consequences to posts, both legal and moral. I only modify a post that violates the terms of service of this board. If that does not sit well with you, I'm sorry, but it will not change the way I administer this "fan" forum. I'm not the only game in town, if you want to post about Catamount athletics, you and others have a choice. If you feel so stronlgy about your beliefs and that I am infringing on your rights, once again I'm sorry, but I don't see it that way. I hope you'll continue to post here, and not a single post you put up will be touched by myself or a moderator, as long as your posts are within the terms of service for this board.

I'd love to call out a certain player who needs to grow up before to late

Listening to the UNCA game tonight, and during the player introductions Daniel Hooker said that Austin Neary was playing tonight, and he was coming off a 1 game suspension.
I guess everyone can take that for what it's worth, not spreading rumor or gossip, as Hooker announced it on the radio.
