"UNC Wilmington, which was scheduled to compete in the event alongside ECU for the Beaches, will not attend, thereby eliminating the team scoring system that was to determine the winners on each side.
Instead, athletes from all three schools will compete to grab individual titles at the event, which the Beaches won by a score of 345.5-310.5 a year ago when the meet was held in Wilmington."
So, what happened to UNCW? money problems?

So, what happened to UNCW? money problems? I heard that the Cats considered not going because of snow and ice on the track. Part of the track is shaded by the stadium. I guess UNCW didn't want to travel that far to compete on the tundra.

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Mother Nature tried several times to put her mark on UNCW’s outdoor schedule and this weekend she was successful. The Seahawks will now compete in the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C., beginning on Friday. The Seahawks were to compete in the fifth annual Beaches Vs. Mountains meet, but snow fall in Boone, N.C., forced the Seahawks to change their travel plans. UNCW is coming off a solid performance at the Weems Baskin Invitational last weekend in Columbia, S.C, as the Seahawks fought through tough weather conditions.
Wonder how East Carolina and WCU made it to Boone with all that "snow" ?
