We looked good against Furman, their defense wasn't as strong as everyone predicted and our defense played pretty good. Here are my thoughts, we need people in the stands to help our players on if we want them to continue to win. This win against Furman shows them they can win even when the officials are working against them, which until we become the big boys on the block the SOCON officials are going to continue to treat us like red headed step children. We also need to beat Presby because the SOCON is getting a bad rap against the Big South. Not to get crazy or anything but we have Wofford, Citadel, VMI, and Chat at home, with a strong showing in attendance we can make the WHEE a place people fear to go. A lot of rambling but excited about where we are at but more excited about where we are going. This week's predictions- Cit/Woff- Woff WCU/ Presby- WCU 31 Presby 10 Mercer/ Samford- Sam VMI/ Chat- Chat CC/ Fur- CC Hope to see one and all in Clinton on Saturday- Go CATS.

More and more consistent wins is what it will take to get and keep butts in the stands. I know students and staff @ WCU that still make fun of the football team and it is going to take time to put a new taste in there mouth, very few folks seem to be able to objectively look and see the vast improvement happening at WCU however I am glad Coach Speir stuck to his game plan and now has us on the right track. He didnt fold when folks were trying to warm up his seat. He knows how to win and recruit and I have no doubt we will soon be the "Class of the SoCon" as it were
Presby, El Cid, Mercer, VMI all should be wins this year and the others we can compete with if not beat so long as we continue the level of play we have shown and stay healthy!
We have turned the corner but still have a ways to go but I truly see us posting a winning record this year

I like your picks. Interested in the outcome of the Mercer vs Samford game. I've been following Mercer and have to admit I'm impressed with their program; Bobby Lamb is one heck of a football coach. If they contend with Samford.....watch out!

We have turned the corner but still have a ways to go but I truly see us posting a winning record this year I bet even old Coach Waters had his on campus critics back in the golden years of CATS football. Certain sector of a college or university will never care for athletics and that's okay. But remember this, they PAID to get inside the stadium to see the band or just to talk to old friends. As long as they paid, it helps the school.
I originally predicted 5-7 with wins over BC, Catawba, PC, Mercer and VMI and I felt we could get "somebody" that we weren't supposed to. Like you, I think the winning season is there but I want this team FOCUSED and not looking ahead. They can do that.........whew, no telling where this can go but we gotta be patient and support them all the way. Excited to get to Clinton. GO CATS!
