#15 impressed me too. It’s Tyrie job to lose though. Way too early for any predictions record wise till I see more in the fall. We will live or die with our D and I have way more optimism going into this year then I did last. Hope you are right. I was high on #15’s Athletic Ability last year. He had lack of experience & you told me none of the backups came close to Tyrie. I also think 15 would be starting for a number of teams in the SoCon this season. Again like 95 stated, most of us on this board are negative & do not know what we are talking about. Sometimes I think it is worthless to even comment on this board anymore. However, it is like old 72’s use to say that too many people on here look at the Football Program thru Purple Colored Glasses & think with their heart instead of their heads. Just keep in mind, if you are realistic in your posts about WCU athletics, you need to have a think skin, because you will be attacked as negative. It's not negative to face reality, and it's not a cup half full or a cup half empty situation with WCU sports teams. Athletics at WCU is, unfortunately, a cup 40% full and 60% empty, maybe even 30-70 based on funding.

The one thing I can take away from Saturday is you can see how hard #15 and #3 have been working. Both are MUCH improved over last spring. That’s what you must see out of a red shirt year to improve. On D #99 is a beast bigger faster going to impact things. Oline is going to get healthy and be a force, I think. I think at WR we will be ok 2 Healthy TE’s with experience will be involved in the Offense It’s going to be a 3 headed monster at RB, but that’s OK My concern on Offense is being able to count on Tyrie doing what he is suppose to off the field. Enough said on that front. On D if we see the same improvement in Year 2 of Wiley’s reign as in Year 1, we will have a chance to compete for SoCon title. If we get handled up front like last years team did then it’s going to be tough to finish in the top 2 slots.

Do you think Coach Speir was sending Tyree a message by playing him on the 2nd Team during the Spring Game?

No, Tyrie is Coach Speir's guy. Tyrie has earned this job and we shouldn't be talking about him losing his job.

Just basing this on Speir's comments/interview about the Spring Game, but he at least said he was playing the other guys with the starters to try and figure out who would be the backup. That was his quote at least.

I was just asking Smack a question about his statement concerning Tyree. By the way, Smack has a son on the team & I have full confidence in his remarks and observations when it come to the Catamount Football Team.

I was aiming this at the guy who said Tyrie should be moved to WR. For the record, I've done film for the football team for the last 2 years so I'd say I have a little bit of inside knowledge also. I hope the young man wasn't meant to be condescending. Let's be friends here. Go Cats.

If memory serves me correctly, I believe Tyrie had a suspension last Spring. Not sure he was in jeopardy with the school for anything harsher than discipline from the football team (obviously I am not that close to things and don't want to speculate). But from all indications, Mark Speir appears to hold you accountable for your actions regardless if you are a starter or member of the Scout team. He proved that in what most consider an unheard of move at WCU when he fired the DC during the season 2 years ago. I applaud him for that approach and accountability.

I just don't think Tyrie has done anything that has warranted this kind of talk.
