I’m not going to say anything further about someone else’s kid. I will back up that the coaches hold everyone to the same standard. If your close to the program you know the issues players are having. Our team is way better with Tyrie at QB imho.

I’m going to tell you guys something is coming that we’ve never had in Cullowhee and it’s a QB controversy, and I’ve heard this from Atheltic dept staff as late as this weekend. Tyrie is going to have to work for his #1 spot and the other two guys are putting the pressure on.

The young QB from Gboro has a lot of talent, has a great arm, and is mobile. Seems a waste to have him on the bench & loosing a year of eligibility. I think Tyree had some issues last season with accuracy when throwing the long passes. I still think Coach Speir will go with Tyree.

I’m lretty sure if any of these guys end up being better than Tyrie, they will play. I also think Tyrie is all for helping the team win. He is a leader in the weight room and every where else and I think he would continue to work hard and be that leader even if he, for some reason, got beat out for the job.

The things I know are: - Competition makes everybody better
- It is NEVER a bad thing to have two or more good players at any position
- QB depth is typically a problem for everybody - so 2 (or even 3) good ones puts you way ahead
- Tyrie Adams is a pretty amazing athlete, so he will make us a better team somehow/someway regardless of where he is at (if #1 holds true and he is a better QB - look out)
The thing I believe is that Coach Spier understands we have missed a few good chances at the playoffs in 3 of the past 4 years, so I fully expect him to put the 11 best players on the field for all facets of the game (offense, defense, and special teams).
I still don't know how good we will be, but I certainly feel like we are putting better talent on the roster than we have in a very long time!

Sept. 1 - Newberry W Sept. 8 - OPEN Sept. 15 - at Gardner-Webb W Sept. 22 - VMI W Sept. 29 - at Furman L Oct. 6 - at Samford W Oct. 13 - Chattanooga W Oct. 20 - at Mercer W Oct. 27 - at East Tennessee State W Nov. 3 - The Citadel L Nov. 10 - Wofford W Nov. 17 - at North Carolina L
I agree that the Citadel game will be a toss up and certainly hope I am on the wrong side of that prediction. As it stands I have the Cats at 8-3 with 7 D1 wins, now whether or not that would be enough for the playoffs is another discussion.

great response gocats18... right on the money I still can't believe all this talk about the guy who is going to be a second string QB. Tyrie is an athletic freak in the SOCON and should absolutely be the starter. They are just giving the backup a lot of time because of injury concerns with Tyrie.

No so fast! Wait till preseason practice in August. I can see Tyrie in a hybrid slot position with Jones (#15) getting him the ball to him. Maybe not on every possession, but on a lot of possessions (depending on the defense we are facing) to give opposing defenses something else to think about. AND...I will not be surprised to see Jones getting a lot of playing time. I am intrigued with the above mentioned scenario. Jones is a better, headier passer with a strong skill set while Tyrie is a special athlete. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM ON THE FIELD AT THE SAME TIME.
