Hodges and McKnight makes Samford a low risk bet to beat any and everybody in the SoCon. I would to see the Catamounts try a similar combination - Will Jones to Tyrie Adams. Okay...who thinks I'm a crazy old man?

I’m just wondering why the push for Tyrie out at QB is such a big thing??? If Tyrie is in good standing he is our QB. He was the top offensive weapon we had last season. He can run and throw it like no one on our team. I see the improvement in 15 and 3, great improvement, but they aren’t Tyrie yet. He was number 2 in Spring purely for off field issues. He is dynamic and a great on field leader. Nothing wrong with competition though and good hearted banter on the board. Carry on

What I am trying to say is that I am not sold on Tyrie as a GREAT quarterback. He is a good QB with the likes of the receivers we had last season and Detrez at running back....but I think Will Jones (#15) could be a great quarterback with Tyrie as a hybrid/slot/receiver. I would love to see us experiment with that scenario early in the schedule against Newberry, Gardner-Webb and VMI. I really think this might be the answer ...along with better defense...to getting over the hump to a playoff berth. I must have too much time on my hands to think up such a scenario, but I'm getting desperate for a trip to the playoff.

Old Catamount we were the number 1 offense in SoCon last year. Newsome missed atleast 3 games. Offense ain’t what’s going to put us over the top sir. It’s starts and finishes on D. Tyrie is starter unless injured or in trouble imho. I’m very optimistic on the D front. We could be the surprise team in SoCon.

the question i have on the offensive side of the ball, is how does our receiving unit look? losing T. Robinson will leave big shoes to fill!

It will be interesting to see who takes the stretch the field roll. I know Mathis will be a big target for us. The WR’s will be something I watch this fall.

The key to success is stopping the run. Period. Just watch the Mercer & Furman game for reference. The Offesne will click as long as Tyrie is at QB. Period.
