Not to be negative but these awards mean nothing if we are not winning games

For me, Tyrie is so fun to watch. He's an exceptional talent and deserving of the accolades he receives. BUT, what make him special. is his collective passion for the game, his teammates, and his school. So obvious to anyone with an open eye. I think we have a great one coming behind him. He'll have to wait his turn. Don't know about the race issue you mentioned. Assume you were referring to comments previously posted on board. Damn, we would hope those days are in the rear view mirror, with only a few hollow minded holdouts.

In regards to winning games, we would not be winning anything without Tyrie's performances. And in terms of our record, I know we all are not happy with how close the 1st and 3rd games were, but exactly how many more games could we have won? We are 3-1, and the goal is to score at least 1 more point than your opponent.
Nobody is happy with the defensive play or for the most part the special teams' performance. But our offense is on pace to break records and Tyrie is going to shatter some. A casual observer would come to this board and think we haven't won a game. When in reality we just lost our first one of the season and the others have been "ugly" wins. 95% of the time there is nothing ugly about how Tyrie performs, so this is well-deserved.

The losing has nothing to do with the QB and the offense it has to do with ST and the D but when 2 of the 3 phases are off it does mean alot of losses. Again not on the QB, he is amazing but his talent i feel is going to be wasted sitting at home come playoff time if the other 2 phases do not pick it up and this is a knock on all the coaches but I feel the coaches, all of them, do not prepare the team doing the week. SO by saying that, I think all the talk we hear about they are fixable mistakes, won't be fixed. I think my frustration is with the coaches because i feel they are all talk no action

catamountalum04 - I totally get it. The same thing is being said by most on the board, and I don't disagree that we are struggling everywhere except on offense. But what if.... Let's say Western got the onside kick last week, went down and scored, and pulled off the miracle to beat Furman 45-44. The Cats would have gotten to 4-0 for the first time since 1969. What would the mood be on this board? Did ANYBODY think we were going to have a good defense in the first half of this season given the guys we lost (off a D that wasn't really all that good last year)? I don't think we were out of place or totally out-schemed by anybody, we just miss tackles or blow coverages. Would anybody be overly upset with the 3-1 start had we blown out Newberry and VMI (which only Wofford at the FCS level has done by the way)? I fully expected it was going to take us outscoring our opponents to win games. I think we have an excellent opportunity to win 4 or more games the rest of the way if we can just get a little better on D and not have glaring miscues on special teams. I know that doesn't make for a complete team, and we are all frustrated and fanatical about getting back to the playoffs for the first time in 35 years. I also know we could look the same in those 2 phases and lose every game on the schedule. We are all passionate about the school, and because of what has happened under Speir to get us to a respectable level we are all now that much more passionate about our all-but-forgotten football program. I am not complacent, and am critical about mistakes that seem to be from poor coaching or preparation (leading the league in penalties, making the same kind of coverage mistakes each week, predictable plans/schemes, seemingly slow adjustments, etc.). But I am still rooting for the good guys to build on finding a way to be 3-1 rather than doing what we would have done pre-Speir and finding a way to make those games have us at 0-4.
