Was listening on radio. They said Wiley had to get a loaned player from the O line backups to play D line since they were depleted. Stevenson was that player. Said he was hard to move being 315 pounds.

the only thing to say is the coaching is embarrassing and i know we will hear from FLCatamount about how great the coaches are but we all know he is just a homer for the coaching staff. They could lose for 5 years straight and he would swear they are getting better. Mark needs to make more than one change but i know he won't and we will be stuck with the same garbage next year and will have the losses continue to pile up because that is what WCU does

Wofford changed their QB in late in the 2nd quarter. Huge difference after that. Cats played very well in the first half. I can't remember more than maybe one penalty so that was a major improvement. Once again we collapse on defense in the 2nd half and the offense goes back into their shell.

More excuses is all i hear. On a side note I spoke to a few player parents yesterday and i was told that Tyrie's dad has not been happy all year with the OC and his play calling. On his dad's twitter page he all but said the same. This is not big news as smack has said a few weeks back that the play calling has been bad. I guess what worries me is if the player parents know the play calling is trash what are they saying to recruits parents that they might know from the areas they play football. This could make us lose some good recruits if the parents are talking about the play calling on the team. Even BC has said the same about the bad protection his son has had all year. Yes they looked better yesterday but they basically waited till all the games were played to get better. That is not a good thing because we lose alot on the O line next year so does that mean it will take all year for them to not look like a good high school team?

Special teams observation - Ian showed what kind of punter we all know he is, but for some unexplainable reason I never really saw Wofford even attempt to apply any significant rush. For the most part, they were in punt return and only sent 4 or 5 guys after the kick. Even when they had guys up on the line, I saw them drop back on the snap a couple of times. With 6 guys blocking up the middle it isn't hard to block less than 6 rushers (even a mistake can be masked). As far as I can tell, we had basically the same formation and punt scheme. I was actually at my first and only game of the season, so maybe I couldn't tell as much in person as I do watching on TV. Somebody let me know if I am way off.
Offensive play calling - Wofford has a good defense, and they played much better in the 2nd half. Several of the play calls weren't awful, as I saw upwards of at least 5 or 6 dropped passes. As the game progressed we went to the short out on the sideline a couple too many times (close to INTs a few times and then the dagger at the end). The early 3-and-out had 2 dropped balls, with one trying to hit Spencer down the seam that could have been a TD and the other an 8 yard out on 1st down that got us behind schedule. The problem seems more like when we have an unproductive series that turns into a little bit of funk by players and the OC.
Once again, WCU had opportunities to win another game with a lead at the half. But the other teams adjust on both sides and Western seems to try to (unsuccessfully) hang on. Honestly, Wofford won but I don't feel like they (or ETSU or Furman or...) are really all that much better than us - they just don't make as many mistakes and they find ways to win. Obviously that is the frustrating part - a team that ***coulda*** won 6 or 7 games will end up with 3.

Not disputing anything here, but did want to post about how Tyrie (good or bad) is our offense. If I am reading the stats correctly, he went over 3000 yards total offense yesterday (2127 passing and 902 net rushing for 3029 total). Can anybody verify where he stands on the all-time list of rushing in a season and a career for a QB? If he somehow gets 98 rushing yards against Carolina will he be the first WCU QB to rush for 1000 yards in a season? He needs 68 yards total offense next week to pass Troy Mitchell's record of 3096 total offensive yards in a season. I know that hasn't meant wins or a playoff birth, but still want to celebrate something and Tyrie's records are one of the few bright spots of the season. He would have smashed the record had he not been injured in 2 games.

All his stats look great but we are going to be 3-8 this season. That stat is the most important stat to me. We are going to finish near the bottom of the Conference Standings this season & we are going to be near the top of the SoCon in offensive stats just like last year. This is another example that Offense does not win championship, it is a strong defense.

Wofford is that much better than us.......they win! And next year they will win. Good coaches and teams find a way to win. Speir does not have that and never will.
