Does anyone want to question how loyal Speir is to Western Carolina if the above is true. I can’t believe App State is seriously considering him. Under no way would I extend his contract after next season. His heart has never left Boone since he became Head Coach at WCU. Brian recanted his story after talking with App and Western people from what I understand. I talked to Brian this afternoon online.

You make some good points but I still think if he is our coach next year if he wins he stays. If not, he has to go. The wildcard there is Randy. Randy hired Coach Speir and he is not going to want to get rid of Coach Speir because he is his guy. The story is probably true and they probably asked Randy if they could interview him and he gave his permission. That is how that stuff works. Unless Coach Speir just met them in Asheville and did an under the table interview. Bottom line, Football Scoop has no reason to lie and now Randy and Coach Speir have a reason to cover it up. Donors and recruits are not very accepting of this kind of thing.

I will see if Football Scoop retracts the story. If not, it is true and the cover up is happening. Donors and Recruits.

Many were glad to see him leave when he did.

And I don’t think any coach is truly loyal to a university regardless of what is said. Money talks and BS walks. Mark doesn’t make enough money at WCU to pass up a higher paying gig. If he did it would show what he says about loving the area is true. If not, the jokes on the ones who said differently.

Also, it's still up on the FootballScoop.com, which is where Brian got the information in the first place.

But in Mark's case, he makes comments all the time about how much he loves Cullowhee and how he thanks the good Lord for putting him in Cullowhee and how he wants Western to be his last stop, etc., etc. A little hypocritical if you ask me. I believe it to be true and he needs to own it and he and Randy don't need to make any lame announcement of how this is not true. That is insult to injury because they would be assuming we are stupid. He interviewed for the job. So be it. He better win next season.

He has improved things at Western, but not wanting to start a fight. If Mark wants another job at a bigger school, this is his only shot. Nobody is going to hire him with the record he has had at Western. App is his only shot at this point in his career and he loves App State. He sent his kid to school there so that he would not have to go to Western and that kind of says it all. I don't App will hire him but I have been surprised before. If he goes to App though, there will be many people on this board that will like it. I am disappointed.

I know he'd like the job, but I can't seriously think that he would think ASU would seriously consider a coach with losing season 2 of the last three years and 4 of the last 7 years at his current job. If it were April 1st, I'd just say April Fool.
