Speir is not going anywhere! Yeah, and there is a reason for that, actually a couple of reasons.

The leader of our football program is Mark Speir, I choose not to give much credence in posts from those who cannot correctly spell the name of our head coach.

To all the naysayers and Speir doubters that think Speir is not a good coach or cant finish the job to get his over the hump... I am going to enjoy it when we finally make the FCS tournament, win the SoCon title and become the next App St or what atleast Wofford has become. Its coming. Id rather have Speir build us the long hard way brick by brick for consistent sustained success that when he "retires" from WCU, he leaves the program in A top condition that every FCS coach dreams of coaching.
WCU football was a huge mess when he took over, Rome was not built in a day.
Didnt many Hillbillies fans want Jerry Moore to be fired around 2004 just right before their 3 straight Natl Championships?

While I appreciate the point you are trying to make, autocorrect changes Speir to spire on my phone. Some people may not be paying attention

Apparently, Rome wasn't built in 7 years either. You’re right, it took about 276 years to build Rome Bottom line, Coach Speir did not deny that he talked to App about the job or at least had a discussion. He said that there were some inaccurate reports. If he did not interview, I would have expected him to say, I did NOT interview for the position but that is not what he said. Inaccurate reports could mean anything but who cares. This just means that he needs to win next year for sure. Randy will fire him if he does not win more than he loses next year and that is a 100% accurate prediction.

Yes, I want him to win next year and in the future, I think we will, but unless we truly regress backwards (regardless of record), Do you really think Randy will fire Speir who is his guy in the first place and who has done more for WCU overall in success since Bob Waters. I mean we have had 3 winning seasons out of the past 5 years. Even if we have a losing season next year (and I don't think we will) but unless we go winless or only win 1 game and the program is obviously regressing with say the culture and player morale. Speir will not be gone next year either. It would take multiple years of losing seasons (not just 2 losing seasons in a row, especially if we go 4-8, or 5-7) considering next year there is 2 FBS teams on our schedule. The only coach, that might be in danger of being fired if he has another crappy season would be Moranda.
