CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Doomes played 12 games for West Virginia as a freshman in the 2018-19 season. He averaged 2.2 points and 0.9 rebounds. WOW. That's a marquee player if I ever saw one. Good response. Reminds me of a sign on one of my neighbors' doors: "The Sarcasm Club meets here monthly... Like we need your membership."

Everybody gets excited when a player from a power 5 school transfers, and usually they are a flop. There is a reason they transfer, and more than likely they see the writing on the wall they they are going to be riding the bench. If they had the talent, they'd be going to another power 5 school, not the SoCon.

Randy Smith: Mocs Should Get Out Of The Southern ConferenceAs someone who has followed UTC football since 1975, things have really changed very little. That may seem like a ridiculous statement since the Mocs have won numerous Southern Conference titles, made the FCS playoffs on more than one occasion and moved into a beautiful new stadium 22 years ago. What hasn't changed is the Mocs search for fans to attend games at Finley Stadium. It's always been that way. Even when the Mocs were winning big under Russ Huesman from 2011 until he left for Richmond in 2016, UTC administration has been scratching its collective head trying to figure out how to consistently put butts in the seats. I've offered this solution before, but here it is again. Get out of the Southern Conference. While the league is still highly respected among FCS conferences, football fans in Chattanooga are not going to show up in droves to watch the Mocs play The Citadel, VMI or Western Carolina. more: www.chattanoogan.com/2019/7/2/392726/Randy-Smith-Mocs-Should-Get-Out-Of.aspx

However, the Mocs do have a real problem with attendance. Public school with a big enrollment, nice stadium, in a good size city, decent football record, they should be leading the conference in attendance. I don't think a move to the Sun Belt or C-USA will help their attendance (except maybe a ASU game) problem, it would take a move to the SEC or ACC to fix that (which of course is not going to happen). Those Tennessee folks just love the Vols too much to come to a Mocs game, even the Moc graduates.

What's funny about attendance and his statement about no one wants to see UTC play WCU? Well the WCU game has been one of the few games with over 10K in attendance the last few years in Chattanooga.

UTC football coach dismisses three players for 'violation of team rules'University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football coach Rusty Wright has dismissed three players for what he called "violation of team rules." Wright would not elaborate but added that all three players — rising senior outside linebacker Ian Hayes, redshirt freshman cornerback Jhaeden Smith and redshirt freshman tight end Logan Pitts — have been notified. www.timesfreepress.com/news/breakingnews/story/2019/jul/02/utc-dismisses-players/497973/
