That's pretty funny. However, the Mocs do have a real problem with attendance. Public school with a big enrollment, nice stadium, in a good size city, decent football record, they should be leading the conference in attendance. I don't think a move to the Sun Belt or C-USA will help their attendance (except maybe a ASU game) problem, it would take a move to the SEC or ACC to fix that (which of course is not going to happen). Those Tennessee folks just love the Vols too much to come to a Mocs game, even the Moc graduates. Fellas, I said basically the same thing about the SoCon a couple of years ago. You have a bunch of small schools in the SoCon that do not travel well for Football Games. Heck, we have around 12,000 students & should be able to fill most of the East Side Stands for home games. However, a lot of the students could care less about watching football games involving the no name schools in the SoCon. App State & Ga Southern knew that they would never be able to increase attendance by remaining in the SoCon. Mr. Smith’s comments are correct about WCU. Our program has been an ugly pig for many years & we can no longer make excuses for the total lack of financial support by the University for decades. The SoCon private schools control the conference & can out vote the State Universities. With increased financial support by the fans, increased support by the University and gradual increase in home game attendance, WCU will never be able to compete on the level that App State, Georgia Southern, and UNCC are now playing on as long as we remain in the SoCon.

I know this is veering off topic, and I agree with much of what Jim says regarding the SoCon. But I would probably not include UNCC with App State - at least not yet. Charlotte has some good things going on, but their attendance has gone down or stayed relatively flat. They didn’t overbuild their stadium, so they can’t host really big crowds. But the last 3 years attendance has averaged 11903 in 2017, 11710 in 2018, and 13537 last season. They also have an all-time home record of 13-23 (.361 winning percentage). For a school that is 2.5 times bigger, they average somewhere between 2 to 3k more than WCU. A big part of that is they are still new playing football and they play in CUSA (who is also a very spread-out conference). But App and GSU have a history of winning that get them relatively big crowds regardless of the opponent.
As for WCU - no argument the school has and continues to just be happy with letting the Catamount Club pay for scholarships and seem overjoyed with getting decent crowds, playing multiple FBS games for funding, and not positioning the football program for a higher level of success.

Too bad WCU always gets chancellors satisfied with the status quo in Athletics and Athletic Facilities.

It looks like Tennessee is going to take out a lot of frustration out on Chattanooga today. In the first quarter, 60 yard run on the kick-off to Ten., followed by a blocked punt by Tenn. and an interception by Tenn. results in a 21-0 score with over 8 mins left in 1st qtr.

WOW, Tennessee scores again in the 2 quarter, it's no 35-zip for the Volunteers. They certainly are taking out a lot of flustration on Chattanooga.
