Paladin Stadium capacity = 16,000 Average 2018 attendance ~6,000 - If you are a kid choosing schools - some will choose 11,000 butts in seats over a pretty stadium that is 1/3 full. Furman Endowment - not available, but they have received $110,000,000 from the Duke family endowment alone. Money is not a problem for Furman - no matter their commitment to athletics. If you have the kind of money available to you at schools like Samford, Wofford, Furman and VMI, nice stadia should not be a problem. I'm not making excuses for what has happened at WCU, but it's a lot easier to have nice facilities at private schools with wealthy benefactors. ASU -our former rival NC A&T I could also show pics of Charlotte, ECU, State, UNC - so yeah, I think your post IS making excuses for WCU's indifference to athletics. When you don't have the commitment to hire coaches with the pedigree to win and you don't commit to facilities excellence - athletic records & athletic facilities such as what are in Cullowhee, is what you get. If you and others on this board are happy with that..... so be it. I'm not.

Agree 100%! At least they could pressure wash or bleach the east stands. We all know it's a pig, but for heavens sake, put some lipstick on it!

I've brought up a similar point before and gotten a lot of the same replies. Forget having a few uber wealthy supporters, yes that's important. First, it's the large quantity of comfortable to moderately wealthy that make much of these things possible for the typical state supported school. Get them engaged and mobilized and they'll accomplish a lot. Second is the overall quantity of alumni. WCU has approximately 60K living alumni, ASU 126K, Geo Southern 120K. So, their pool of possible donors is a bit more than double ours. Combine that with the winning AND compounding over time and the gap will widen each year. BTW, ASU is just about 20K students, GSU is 27K and WCU is 11K. So, again that quantity gap.

Cleaning and pressure washing of EJ Whitmire is underway as of today, 7/29. That is nice, but considering that is the only upgrade the stadium will get this year, mean it's pitiful. Hell, if I was the AD, I'd have saved the money spent on the pressue washing and up up another banner about it being "Catamount Country" . They both matter about the same.
