Week #3 9-14-19
11,478- Mercer (APSU) 9,150- ETSU (VMI) 7,216 - WCU ( NGU) 3,463- Wofford (Samford)
If Mercer can continue with 10k the remainder of the year, they will win the attendance crown, this past weekend's attendance drop in Cullowhee pretty much eliminates the Cats' 2 year run.

Did anybody watch any of the Mercer game? I didn't tune in until later in the game when Mercer was behind, but there was literally no more than a couple of thousand people (probably less) actually in the stands TOTAL. I don't know how many butts were actually in the seats in Cullowhee, either (you mostly see the West side on the TV coverage that is typically pretty full and obviously due to the long delay it was pretty empty even over there). But if they had 11k to start the game in Macon they emptied out faster than a WCU crowd by halftime.

I also know that a lot of their season ticket holders are no shows to the games, and they sell lots of tickets to what the call the berm (grass or standing) real cheap. I know they went overboard with their beer garden, pregame concerts, tickets to sit in pontoon boats, etc. I also think Mercer fans are fickle and if the team is losing, they leave. Here's a post from a Mercer fan from their fan board....

I wonder what it is going to take for Furman to get crowds like they used to have? I know part of everybody's crowds took a big hit when the schools who traveled left the conference (Marshall, ASU, and GSU) and were replaced by small schools who typically don't have big home crowds much less people who travel to see them. But the Paladins appear to be the class of the SoCon and might very well be a top-10 FCS team, and they can't get 8k to a home conference game where their ex-head coach and former star QB came to Greenville???
I have been to Furman when 15k was a fairly normal crowd, and I actually expected them to start trending back towards that. I guess the Clemson-factor and all the games being on TV really hurts them.

Week #5 (Sep. 28, 2019)
11,272 - Mercer (Campbell) 7,636 - Chattanooga (WCU) 5,031 - Furman (ETSU) 3,524 - Samford (Citadel) 3,300 - VMI (Wofford)
two things, I don't understand why Samford does not draw better, and Mercer was determined to win the attendance crown this season, but that loss to Campbell will spell trouble, as the Bear faithful are calling to fire Lamb.

The Bears can steal the crown from us, while the teams that appear to actually be good can't get anybody to come see them play. I watched the ETSU @ Furman game and jumped on the Furman board just to read (was interested to see what they were posting after saying the last couple of weeks they didn't see how anybody could stop their offense). At least one guy made fun of the Buc's crowd saying how they couldn't believe a school as big as ETSU couldn't bring more people. I never saw them show the home side, but looks like an announced attendance of 5031. I know Furman is a small school and all, but I would be more concerned that a team people thought of as a possible top-10 squad can't get more than 5k for a conference game. WCU will probably be battling through a 1 or 2 win season but I would expect us to have that many or more at our games the rest of the way.
And regarding Samford, isn't their stadium really small? I think a lot of people watch the game but not from the traditional stands. They were probably 50% or more full, while Furman can hold 16k or more (meaning they were 30% full).

The official seating at Seibert Stadium is 6,700. So, that's about 77% full, not bad.
