In FCS, five jobs have come open as of November 25. Twenty-five FCS jobs came each of the last two years, 24 during the 2017 season, and 15 jobs came open during the 2016 off season.
Gardner-Webb (NC) - Carroll McCray Mercer (GA) - Bobby Lamb Murray State (KY) - Mitch Stewart Northern Colorado - Earnest Collins Eastern Kentucky - Mark Elder (despite back to back 7 win seasons)

Some might be surprised but I don't think it was any surprise that Bobby Lamb was let go. He's a good coach and was the right coach to get the Mercer program started. But just like at Furman, his teams consistently under performed. Don't be surprised if their next coach easily goes 7-4 or better next year.
I wonder if Gardner-Webb will continue to decline and suffer the Presbyterian fate. Rumor is they are under funded and lack a lot of basic resources that the rest of FCS teams have, including us. They only have about 2500 students so athletic fees to support a full D1 athletic program are limited there. Their endowment is even smaller than ours. So, that's not helping much. Richardson was a big benefactor but looks to be a dried up stream now.

Unless he in kind to those schools in his will, they may face problems in the future.
