I don't see why they limit it. It could be from 8 am till game time.

Agree they should “officially” extend it. I will say if you aren’t being out of control they will leave you alone. We are usually out there many hours before officially starting tailgate time and I am very close to where the police are and they leave us alone. With that said there’s no harm in the school lightening up on the “official time” to start....

I voted yes, but agree it doesn’t matter that much. Most hardcore tailgaters are already there well before the current “official” time.

I think the rules are in place for the students. I do know they should tell the students to turn off their music and clean up 15 minutes before the game so that we can hear the national Anthem and the pregame stuff. There was a game last year where one group had their music blaring until the coin toss. Then they left a huge bunch of trash. It is embarrassing if we have any visitors in the stands and that is their first impression of our school. I don’t mind kids having fun but they need to act like responsible adults and be respectful. So I would talk to the tailgating students and their lack of maturity and good behavior if you want to increase the amount of time that tailgating to occur and not the administration. The bad actions of a few influence what the rest of the population can do.

But we host many newcomers some of which are one timers or first timers and where they get their information and sometimes contradictory information is by calling or looking information up on websites. Also, with that official time limitation, some people with distant drives decide it's just not worth it to make the trip for that little bit of time. As with other things you have to "change the culture". The wheels of change turn very slow in Cullowhee! I just hope we can speed it up a little.

I personally do an area police call 1.Before we leave the tailgate area to head into the game. 2.And after the game before we head out. The rule, as it stands is for everyone. There is not one for students and another for everyone else so if there is some special intent there, that, in and of itself is wrong. If the University wants a different time frame for students than everyone else, create a different rule. I have never been a fan of punish the masses to correct a few. This is just plain out lazy leadership and enforcement. If someone can't abide by the rules, correct and punish that person!

I don’t see any reason why it should be limited anyways. Never understood that.

The bad actions of a few influence what the rest of the population can do. I'm a Cat parent...went to one football game last fall. I'm all for tailgating and having fun prior and during the game. But I was disappointed that the music from the tailgaters drowned out the national anthem. I was wondering if it was like this every game. I also think they should move the location of the flag so that spectators don't face towards the tailgate area during the anthem.
