Justice Bigbie, this year's Southern Conference Preseason Player of the Year, has been dubbed as the 2020 "Leggett No. 7 Legacy" recipient as chosen by Western Carolina head baseball coach Bobby Moranda and his coaching staff. Moranda made the announcement Thursday afternoon in the team locker room prior to the team's scheduled practice session with Leggett additionally addressing the team via video conference. Bigbie is the 10th different Leggett No. 7 Legacy recipient all-time and the fourth infielder over the past five seasons to have the honor bestowed upon them. The Chesapeake, Va., native is the third junior to wear the coveted No. 7 jersey joining Danny Bermudez back in 2015 and Luke Robinson a season ago. Bigbie adds the Leggett Legacy to a litany of preseason accolades that includes first-team All-SoCon honors and third-team preseason All-America accolades from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Voted a team captain, Bigbie is coming off a season where he batted .355 – third in the SoCon – with a team-best 75 base hits including 11 doubles and 12 home runs. His 51 RBI likewise ranked him third in the league a season ago.
